As a Marketing Consultant at Solidsoft Reply no day is the same. And if you ask me that’s part of the appeal. Since joining in December 2023, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to enhancing the company’s brand awareness, the marketing strategy, and positioning it as a leading IT company and global provider of medicines verification and traceability systems.
As a Marketer, there’s broad scope to freely share and exchange ideas, find new ways to reach audiences and imagine new possibilities. This is even more meaningful when it concerns building, deploying and enhancing healthcare systems for people around the world, particularly those at a higher risk of being supplied fake medicines.
The impact of falsified and counterfeit medicines extends far beyond individual harm. It weakens public trust in healthcare, fuels drug resistance and diminishes confidence in the pharmaceutical supply chain. Our work aims to combat this destructive and sadly growing issue. We continuously find new ways to drive positive and transformative change through our solutions and technology.
The work I do centres on amplifying who we are, what we do, our solutions, and how they fit into the larger scheme of things – specifically in the mission to stop fake medicines and ensure patient safety. As someone from a humanities background (having studied my BA in Classics with English, and MSc in Media and Communications), the field I work in is relatively new to me. This inevitably means getting to grips with complex technologies and essential healthcare systems that Solidsoft Reply powers, such as the European Medicines Verification System (EMVS) and EU Hub. Making sure to communicate them in a way that is accessible, digestible and meaningful for our audiences. It’s crucial to listen to their wants, needs and values to ensure alignment and a successful campaign that puts them and their priorities at the heart. Our audiences and customers therefore inform a key part of our marketing strategy.
A typical week involves a myriad of Marketing activities, such as coordinating and planning social media posts, building landing pages, monitoring our website performance and analytics, planning upcoming company events and socials, competitor analysis, working on marketing collateral for our products and services, and finding ways to further our lead generation efforts, to name a few. As a result, I’ve been able to hone my skillsets while contributing ideas to shape the direction of our marketing strategies and objectives.
Since April, I have been studying the Level 4 CIM Professional Digital Marketing course alongside my role. With one module down and two to go, the course has enriched my professional growth with invaluable insights that are already shaping how I approach our marketing strategies and objectives. The three modules, Applied Marketing, Planning Campaigns, and Digital Marketing Techniques each bring something unique to the table, offering both learnings and practical skills that I can implement. Juggling work and study isn't easy, but the knowledge and expertise I'm gaining make it worthwhile and rewarding.
An added benefit of my role is cross-functional collaboration. This usually entails working in tandem with other Business Units and stakeholders internally and externally. This is especially pertinent for our product launches and service offerings, such as our Managed Service Offering, SolidCloudMS, where I collaborated with the Support and Operations and Quality Teams to revamp and create our go-to-market strategies. We decided to soft launch it both within the internal market (the Reply network), and externally to the wider market. After mapping out the product offering, features, benefits and what pain points it addresses, it was time to start work on the brochure, landing page, decide on the branding and write the Microsoft marketplace offer. In the space of two months, SolidCloudMS was ready! This marked the first of our service offerings that were mapped out and launched over the summer, the second being SafeHandsVT. It’s a joy to work in an environment that nurtures collaboration, innovation and creativity.
Internal marketing is another integral aspect of my role. Finding ways to engage staff and communicate the company’s missions and goals while ensuring a positive atmosphere conducive to growth and motivation. For example, the first company social of the year I organised at THE CUBE, gave everyone a chance to step away from their desks and connect on a more personal level. It wasn’t just about team building or playing games from the game show – it was about creating fun, unforgettable memories. Seeing people relax, laugh, and share ideas outside the usual work environment really brought home the importance of internal culture. It's these moments that strengthen the foundation of our team and keep us all moving forward with a shared sense of purpose. Looking ahead to next year, I’m excited about refining our online and offline marketing efforts, from more campaigns to holding more knowledge-sharing forums and events that connect us with broader audiences. There’s a lot of opportunity to build on what we’ve achieved so far.
The dynamic nature of my role keeps me energised as I constantly learn and grow. Every day presents new opportunities, and with them, the chance to contribute in meaningful ways. To push boundaries and rethink how we connect with our staff, customers and audiences. What’s most fulfilling, though, is seeing how our work translates into real impact. Whether it’s building stronger connections with colleagues and customers or supporting the incredible innovation happening across the company. It’s an exciting time to be part of a team that not only embraces change but actively drives it.
