The Reply SOA Framework is composed of a set of tools used to enable, simplify and manage in a controlled manner the development of multi-channel web applications based on the SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) model. The framework, based on J2EE standards and Java technology, provides tools and services on multiple levels which are recognised in multiple tier architecture: • Security Tier • Presentation Tier • Middle Tier • Service Tier The basic concept is to separate the functions from the services, therefore guaranteeing the possibility of integrating – with a single logical view – service providers with different technologies (such as WebServices, service orientated Legacy systems, Java Providers, etc.). The main technological advantage is to hide architecture and system complexity, thereby giving the developers a simple view of the system thanks to the architectural services and function libraries. The technological aspect is not enough to ensure a successful project that uses the SOA paradigm as it is also important to consider the methodological approach of the service providers. Reply has built a working methodology that embraces the SOA model according to the principle of a tailor made suit: it uses it, for example, to define a “Business Driver” analysis model based on business needs, which is therefore capable of transforming the business processes into SOA functions and services.
For clients, this means being able to maintain a close connection between business needs and technological components (Services/Functions) that compose the application. During maintenance, it would therefore be easy to understand the impact of a change request for an application component with advantages in terms of reducing project timeframes and increasing the efficiency of the technological solution. The use of the Reply “Business Driven” model also during the project phases will allow the immediate identification of possible component re-cycling and guarantees shorter project timeframes and a higher overall level of quality for the project: this is guaranteed by the re-cycling of already tested and inspected components.
