Reply, a company listed on the TechSTAR division of the Italian Stock Exchange [REY.MI] has been awarded the tender called by the Comando Generale dell’Arma dei Carabinieri (General Command of the Italian military police) as part of the 2000-2006 "Security for the development of the South of Italy" national operational programme. Said tender concerns the technological development and updating of the information system currently used by the Comando Carabinieri Tutela Patrimonio Culturale (Italian military police’s cultural heritage protection unit) during investigations and planning of activities to safeguard works of art. Reply will be responsible for introducing new emerging technologies with the aim of updating the information system and improving automated processes. In particular the Leonardo system will be characterized by access modes through innovative web and mobile channels and high standards of flexibility and security. In addition to developing technological hardware, software and network infrastructures, with the aid of its partner Bull, Reply will reorganize the Comando dei Carabinieri Tutela Patrimonio Culturale’s (Italian military police’s cultural heritage protection unit) complete online database, introducing new cataloguing functions and advanced functions for art searches, investigative analysis and geographical positioning. The database currently includes data related to more than 1 million stolen works of art. This is the reason why more efficient management of the system will improve exchange of information among police forces – in Italy and abroad – and with bodies involved at an institutional level in cultural/art heritage management and citizens. The information flow will also be improved by providing members of the military police unit with IT equipment which will offer 24/7 access to information managed by various bodies and Italian and foreign ministries. Said equipment will also allow for a real time link and coordination with other police forces. "We are extremely proud and highly motivated – stated Riccardo Iezzi, Reply’s Senior Partner – that the Comando Generale dell’Arma dei Carabinieri (General Command of the Italian military police) has chosen us to work alongside them, offering our technological support in the fight against organized crime to safeguard our important cultural heritage".
