Reply, which specialises in the design and implementation of solutions based on new communication channels and digital media, inaugurates the launch of Area360, Augmented and Virtual Reality Centre, developed based on the experience gained by Forge Reply, a Reply company specialising in Gaming and Digital User Engagement.
With Area360, Reply positions itself as one of the first players in Italy to be able to develop new tools for the interactive use of content based on augmented and virtual reality. Area 360 is focused on domains of applicability that primarily include design review, presentation of products, training and in the healthcare field, research on cognitive rehabilitation processes. According to Digi-Capital estimates, the Virtual and Augmented Reality market size is expected to reach 120 billion US dollars by 2020, with 90 billion US dollars attributed to Augmented Reality and 30 billion US dollars to Virtual Reality.
Area360 features various laboratories available to Reply clients and dedicated to the development and testing of immersive virtual reality and augmented reality systems. Thanks to environments such as the CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment), holographic screens, oversized concave screens and the use of viewers that support virtual reality such as carboard, Gear VR, OCULUS Rift and HTC Vive, customers are able to try out different immersive experiences, experimenting with different ways of interacting and viewing content.
A complete virtual immersion through the realistic perception of elements, space and depth not only offers companies an innovative way to present their products, but also solves a number of complications that until some time ago seemed insurmountable: avoiding the creation of physical prototypes, with beneficial impacts on costs and on the design process, the ability to demonstrate non-transportable or not easily accessible products, and the ability to train people in the use of complex and often unavailable machines.
Area360 has already completed numerous projects with leading companies including ABB and L3 Calzoni in the automation and robotics sector, Touring Superleggera, CASE Industrial and Magneti Marelli in the automotive sector, and the BLM Group in the machine tools industry.
In the field of rehabilitative medicine, Forge Reply was chosen by Auxologico to design and develop two CAVEs, taking unique and highly specialised skills relating to the integration of virtual reality systems and applying them for the first time nationally in the medical field.
