Glue Reply were retained by a leading global telecommunications provider to design and develop the webMethods business rules engine, supporting interfaces and integrations for a provisioning platform for Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC). FMC provides the ability for organisations to use mobile telephony both inside and outside the office location. This benefits the organisation in a single handset for all calls, increased productivity and reduced mobile costs.
The FMC platform needed to support a large volume of complex business rules across diverse business process scenarios. The solution was also required to co-exist on the current Wholesale Access Delivery (WAD) provisioning platform. Glue Reply designed and built the webMethods models needed to support FMC, re-using the WAD models were appropriate. To ensure that the two diverse provisioning solutions (WAD and FMC) could sit on the same platform, Glue Reply enhanced the existing WAD platform to run within a generic, reusable BPMS and service framework. A configurable order mapping interface, built in webMethods, to support multiple order types for future projects was also added, as well as an Order Management layer to support traffic routing and batching/queuing of messages to mitigate against outages and exceptional message volumes.
The customer achieved a solution that enabled a single provisioning platform for all future products, as well as point BPMS solution for FMC. The platform was developed using SOA principles, generating a service repository for component reuse and maintenance, and a library of re-usable service patterns to simplify the solution design for further products on the platform.
