Hi engage Bluetooth Beacons

Hi engage Bluetooth Beacons are small Bluetooth low energy device that can be used for localization. The beacons work on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), also known as Bluetooth Smart. BLE can also be found on Bluetooth 4.0 devices that support dual mode. Hi engage Beacons can notify an application of their presence. In this way they can trigger location based behavior on a compatible device. Hi engage beacons support both iBeacon and Eddystone standards.

• Transmission: Engage beacons use broadcasting packet to transmit an Identifier. By reading this identifier an application can determine user location and trigger the desired actions.
• Receiving and decoding: There are two kinds of method used to detect Bluetooth beacons. One is ranging and the other one is monitoring. Both iOS and Android perform ranging in foreground and monitoring in background. Ranging is used to know the relative distance between a device and beacons. Engage SDK has a special algorithm that will find the nearest beacon keeping into consideration changes in received signal strength values.
  Region monitoring detects when a user is in the vicinity of beacons. Hi engage SDK will provide a trigger when entering an Engage region and exiting an Hi engage Region. When entering a region a ranging is started in background, this will notify the application with the nearest beacon. This value could be used to determine the location of the user.
