Reply is the European partner of The Data Incubator (TDI), an intensive 8 week data science bootcamp held in the US, aimed at PhD and MSc STEM graduates looking to develop expertise in data science. Across Europe, Reply deliver this service to graduates, as well as companies with a data science knowledge gap, needing to train up their staff.
I was the latest Replier to become a certified TDI trainer joining colleagues from Data Reply in Italy and Germany. I spent 8 weeks in Washington DC to complete my training, learning everything from the basics of data wrangling to the subtle complexities of deep learning architectures.
The course was delivered through daily lectures, weekly projects designed to develop practical skills in that week’s material, and a healthy environment of collaboration with fellow course mates. I shared and worked collaboratively with the rest of the cohort, making it invaluable because not only I was learning from the diverse curriculum, but also from my peers. At the end of the day, Data Science is both a Science and an Art, so different perspectives and approaches to problem-solving definitely enhance my skillset. One particular feature that has already been adopted as a working practice at Data Reply UK is the daily coding challenge reviews. These are a really great, collaborative way to develop your coding skills, a crucial tool for data scientists.
