The corporate Intranet has evolved: it is not just a place to find information. Today it is a space for collaboration, and where there are not only news and data but also ideas and proposals. We live in a historical moment in which in our personal sphere, the methods of interaction driven by technology and digitization, change with extreme ease. In the same way we are noticing a rethinking of processes and tools in an "employee-centric" perspective with the aim of improving the work experience.
“EMPLOYEE-CENTRIC” PERSPECTIVE For a company like Generali Investments, located in eight countries, essential success factors are simplifying communication processes and stimulating a sense of belonging. Referring to "Value our people", one of the Group's values, Generali has developed the Generali People Strategy to enhance the most precious resources: the people who are part of it. The Internal Communication team, responsible for information and updating activities, requested the support of TamTamy Reply to develop a new Intranet structure capable of adapting to communication and collaboration needs of employees and optimizing the activities of the editorial team.
The Intranet platforms previously used constituted a fragmented universe and were not the appropriate tool for involving employees belonging to different companies and countries. The communication was unidirectional and there were no spaces for collaboration. If the need to foster internal communication was relevant on the one hand, both from a more "corporate" and less formal point of view among employees, on the other there was a need for methods of publication and editorial management more immediate and functional. Additional essential elements, requested by the customer, were represented by the creation of a notification system directly connected to the publication and interaction activities on the platform and by the enabling of functionalities to support collaboration methods in a Smart Working perspective. The goal consisted in carrying out an overall re-platforming of the Intranets, integrating them on a single CMS platform capable of responding to the communication needs of the Group by connecting employees from the new offices in Milan to the ones in Asia.
THE SOLUTION To achieve this goal, TamTamy Reply supported Generali Investments in the design and launch of a completely new and reactive Intranet, powered by TamTamyTM, which takes into account the growing importance of the employee experience. The graphic and creative proposal, in concordance with the brand identity, gives evidence to the content through a fresh and dynamic layout. The highly user-centered portal allows for simple and immediate navigation and the overall architecture has been designed to facilitate quick and smartphone-proof consultatio, which can be verified by a 230% increase in mobile access in the first months of the platform's adoption. The design of the site was created reserving particular attention to the user experience and the enhancement of social and collaborative dynamics. For the first time, employees can contribute by commenting on contents and expressing their appreciation in one of the ten communities dedicated to collaboration and interaction. The actions performed by each user on the platform, relating to the number of contents and comments published and the number of likes distributed, and the badges collected during particular initiatives, are visible on the personal page. In addition to the activities carried out within the community, this page contains corporate information such as the email address and the department and personal information including the skills that can be entered independently to categorize one's expertise. In parallel, the internal communication team, through the opportunity for content distribution, has created four editorial groups which lighten and optimize the work of the editorial team with a significant reduction in publication and editing times (90% less than the previous platform) independently managing their area of expertise.
TamTamy Reply supported the customer during all the design phases: starting from the analysis of the company requirements, to graphic design of the interface, to the content inventory activities and subsequent migration, up to the management of the implementation of the Hackathon initiatives on the platform. Four communities, the result of co-planning with employees, designed as virtual public spaces intended for interaction between employees and dedicated to vertical issues: idea generation, identification of talents, communication and engagement, rewarding. Specifically, TamTamy Reply supported the Generali Investments team in the creation and setting of the Idea Generation process by suggesting an online competition in which employees can propose innovative ideas or projects already carried out. The ideas received are voted by the community and the winner, selected among the finalist projects, has the opportunity to be supported by a mentor to develop his own idea.
RESULTS AND NEXT STEPS In addition to the creation and production release of the new platform within 19 months, TamTamy Reply currently collaborates with the project representatives through digital training and support for community management activities in order to bring out the potential of the tool in the best possible way. Furthermore the migration of two other Group platforms within InSite and the release of new functions dedicated to improving and encouraging collaboration are in the process of being launched.
